“This season we celebrate the outstanding leadership of Maestro Rick Sowers, who will retire in April 2024 after 35 years as our music director and conductor.

For his final season with us, Maestro has created six concerts that promise to be truly memorable. Audiences will be treated to soaring works of music that are among Rick’s personal favorites. Gifted ASO members will be featured in exceptional solo performances.

An ‘Evening of Song’ will reunite Rick with well-known vocalists who will return to the Paramount stage to pay tribute to their friend and colleague. The 2023-24 season is a time to celebrate Maestro’s gifts as we anticipate a future that builds on the standard of excellence that he has set.

Our first concert of the season begins with the 1812 Overture by Tchaikowsky and solo performances by ASO musicians Amanda Baer, concertmaster; Rebecca Chappell, principal clarinet; Joe Everett, principal bass; and John Huntoon, principal trombone. The program of patriotic pieces will conclude with everyone’s favorite, ‘Stars and Stripes Forever’.”
