Are you looking for meaningful ways to give back to nature and/or celebrate Earth Day in Madison County? Whether you’re into getting outside or supporting local eco-conscious businesses, there are plenty of green-friendly activities to enjoy. Here’s a list of ways you can honor the planet while discovering all the natural beauty and sustainability efforts in Madison County, Indiana.
Spend Time in Nature

Celebrate Earth Day by getting outside and enjoying nature. Whether it’s a walk through a park, a visit to a trail, or time spent in your own backyard, taking a moment to connect with the outdoors can make a big impact.
If you’re able to do a little more while you’re out, even better. Pick up any trash you see along the way and do your part to help keep our natural spaces clean. Most importantly, take time to appreciate just how important nature is to all of us.
Pick Up Litter in Your Community
Make a difference this Earth Day by picking up trash in your neighborhood, at a local park, along a trail, or anywhere you see litter. Whether you go solo or gather a group, it’s a simple way to beautify your surroundings and protect local wildlife.
Visit a Local Plant Shop or Market

Bring nature into your home by picking up a plant from a local plant shop, or support sustainable gardening by shopping at local markets and eating local produce. Farmers’ markets are a great way to shop and eat local. Ask about native plants or eco-friendly gardening practices while you’re there.
Bike or Walk Instead of Driving

Challenge yourself to go car-free for the day! Take advantage of the bike trails in Anderson, like Rangeline Nature Preserve, or explore downtown Pendleton on foot. Less driving = less pollution.
Let’s make every day Earth Day! Madison County is full of natural beauty, passionate people, and places that make it easy to live a little greener. Whether you’re picking up trash or just spending time outdoors, small actions can lead to a big impact.
