Candles & Carols

“The event began in 1965 when Dr. Dale Bengtson, chair of the Anderson College (University) music department, had an idea. What if a Christmas gathering was created featuring all the ensembles of the music department? How special would it be if the audience was invited to sing along with traditional Christmas carols? These ideas were posed to the dean of the faculty at that time, Robert Nicholson, and soon became the cornerstone of Candles and Carols.”
Christmas Movies at the Paramount: Elf & National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The George Smith Traditional Christmas Show

Miracle on 34th Street

“The beloved Christmas story, “Miracle on 34th Street” will be performed by Duck Creek Players at the Elwood Opera House over two weeks on December 7, 8, 9 and 14, 15, 16. The Opera House is located at 202 South Anderson Street. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7:00pm.”
A Symphony Christmas
Date: December 9th

Location: Paramount Theatre – Anderson, IN
For our third concert of the season, Rick Vale and the Anderson University Chorale, Theodore Hicks, conductor, will be our guests for the traditional ASO Christmas concert. Among the musical highlights will be Rick Vale’s “December” and selections from John Williams’ score for the film “Home Alone”. The audience will be invited to join in a singalong, followed by Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and other seasonal favorites.
The Christmas Carol

“A new tradition at THE ALLEY, A CHRISTMAS CAROL will return every other season. This adaptation by Rick Vale, with original music by him as well, is directed by Jill O’Malia (making her ALLEY THEATRE directorial debut). The classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ‘night of the three spirits‘ comes to life, in-the-round, for audiences of all ages.”
Anderson Young Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker”

Christmas Eve Luminaries

Location: Falls Park – Pendleton, IN
“Christmas Eve Luminaries will start at the entrance of Falls Park off Pendleton Avenue and continue through the park to the Pendleton Historical Museum and end at the John Street. The annual Christmas Eve tradition continues in Falls Park. Take a drive through Falls Park to see Christmas Eve Luminaries line Falls Park Drive during Hometown Christmas in Falls Park.”
