Solar Eclipse Weekend: The Great American Eclipse

Date: April 5th-9th

Location: Mystic Waters Campground – 5435 W State Rd 38, Pendleton, IN 46064

“Whether you plan to make a day of it or prefer to relax and camp beneath the stars on an Indiana Night, we’ve got you covered.  For those seeking a memorable experience, we offer cabins, RV sites and primitive tent camping. Mystic Waters offers an array of activities to be enjoyed during the days leading up to the eclipse. If you are local and just want to take advantage of a day pass, come out and enjoy great tunes and an inviting atmosphere. Come savor the natural beauty, breathe in the fresh air, and witness this remarkable scientific phenomenon with your cherished companions. ~ Sunday Night Live Music ~ Monday (during the eclipse) Day Passes – $15/adults (18 and over), $5/children (17 and under) Avoid making plans during an eclipse…they will get overshadowed!”

Total Solar Eclipse

Date: April 8th  

Time: 7AM-6PM 

Location: Mounds State Park – 4306 Mounds Rd, Anderson, IN 46013

“View the Great American Eclipse at Mounds State Park! Members of the Muncie Astronomy Club will be present at the Woodland Shelter with telescopes and other equipment to help visitors understand the Eclipse and have a unique view. Take a guided hike to the 2,000 year old Native American earthworks and learn about how the ancient peoples who built them understood the sky. A food truck will be available onsite. Come early, as the park will close when it fills to capacity.”

Markleville Park Eclipse Watch Party

Date: April 8th  

Time: 10AM-5PM 

Location: Markleville Community Park – 2649 IN-38, Markleville, IN 46056

“We will have vendor’s booth selling various items for shopping, our concession stand will be open selling food. We will also have musical entertainment on our stage, as well as games and bounce houses for the kids. All funds raised from this event will be used towards finishing the building extension in our park.”

The Sun Don’t Shine on Uranus

Date: April 8th  

Time: 11AM-4PM 

Location: Uranus Indiana – 1423 W. 53rd St, Anderson, IN 46013

“Grab the family and head over to Uranus to watch the most spectacular solar eclipse of 2024! This is a FREE event for all our citizens. We are hosting a festival to celebrate the Great Solar Eclipse, complete with a LIVE DJ, bouncy house, petting zoo, face painting, aliens, dinosaurs, and more! Plus the first 100 through our gate will receive FREE Uranus Solar Eclipse glasses, certified for viewing the phasing sky.

Parking is available and FREE shuttle service from our neighbors at Defiance Motors.”

Madison County Solar Eclipse Event

Edgewood in Darkness

Date: April 8th  

Time: 12-6PM 

Location: Edgewood Golf Course – 519 Golf Club Rd, Anderson, IN 46011

“Food, drinks & cocktails available for purchase! Dance & party to the tunes provided by DJ Dex starting at 3:30. NASA approved viewing glasses will be available for purchase while supplies last for $. Shuttle services available 12:30-6:30pm. Park at Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge 3921 Nichol Ave. Anderson, IN 46011.”

Solar Eclipse Picnic in the Park

Date: April 8th  

Time: 1PM 

Location: Orestes Town Park

“We will be providing free hot dogs, popcorn, pop, cotton candy, a can koozie that says “I watched the solar eclipse in Orestes, Indiana 4/8/2024″ and glasses to watch the eclipse. We will also be having a coloring contest for kids with prizes since our school system will not be in session this day. The Orestes Community Pride Committee will be set up in the park from 1:00 pm to provide the snacks, koozies and glasses.”

Eclipse at Harrah’s Hoosier Park

Date: April 8th  

Time: 1:30-4:30PM 

Location: Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino – 4500 Dan Patch Circle, Anderson, IN 46013

“Cook & Belle at the HOP. Family activities, drawings, cash, and free slot play open to the public. Eclipse glasses (while supplies last).”

Solar Eclipse Day

Date: April 8th  

Time: 2-4PM 

Location: Elwood Public Library – 1600 Main St., Elwood, IN 46036

“Join us for a fun afternoon on April 8th filled with Eclipse activities. We will be making edible models of the sun, doing a UV kid craft, and will present videos about eclipses before we will go outside to actually view the eclipse. A limited number of eclipse glasses will be available.”
